Working With Files Utilizing Web Based Microsoft Office Applications

Overview
Microsoft Office applications are fully functional and accessible on the web.
Instructions
Navigate to
Office 365
. You may be prompted to sign into your CBU Account.
Once you enter your email address you should be brought to the CBU splash page to enter your password and then authenticate utilizing Microsoft Authenticator app.
Once logged in you should be brought to a screen that looks something like this:
From here if we look at the lower left hand corner, above your name you should see
Apps
. Click this and you will now notice there are various office applications to choose from:
Select the app you would like to use.
Setting Up OneDrive and Viewing Files Online Seamlessly
These web applications work fantastic when paired with OneDrive. You can essentially have your files sync'd so everything appears on your app similar to the desktop. We already have a knowledge base article that contains instructions on how to setup OneDrive to your device and sync your files. Essentially we are syncing our files to the cloud so they are accessible on our office applications. For example:
You have a students essay in your Documents Folder. From here you have a subfolder called Test 1 and all of your students essays are here. When sync'd (which is does automatically) you can then navigate to your office portal here
Office 365
and open Word. Once you open Word you will notice under My Documents that all your files are already there ready to work.
You can also set it up to view these files online from within your PC. To do this you want to navigate to your file you are trying to access. Once you find it you simply right click on it and then choose
View Online.
This will open the file in the web based office app that it was created in.
That document will now open in the web browser:
Note
These applications are fully featured, but there may be some slight differences in terms of the user interface, but you will still be able to create, edit and more just as you can on the desktop applications.
