Calendar in Outlook Showing Unknown

Overview 

  • If a user tries to send you an invite but your time is showing unknown then there could be an issue with calendar permissions in Outlook. This is what it looks like:

Instructions

  1. Open Outlook desktop application and click File

  2. From here you want to choose Options

  3. Choose Calendar and scroll to "Change the permissions for viewing Free/Busy information"

  4. This will bring up the Calendar Properties window. From here select the Permissions tab and then ensure that for Default, Permission Level and Read are set to Free/Busy time.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
    If any of these are set to none then that is why you will see unknown time slots for yourself or another user.
     
  5. Click Apply and Ok. This may take a few minutes to synchronize, but once it does the issue will be fixed.
