Outlook Auto-Crashing On Launch
Outlook Auto-Crashing On Launch
Overview
There has been an update that has been pushed by Microsoft causing some functionality loss of Outlook and other office applications. A key indicator is when you go to launch your desktop application of Outlook. It will load and then automatically close. When you try to reboot it prompts you to enter safe mode.
Easiest Solution
For the time being navigate to the web based version of Outlook to send/receive e-mails as this bug does not affect the web based version. You can find it here:
https://outlook.office365.com/cbu.ca
Desktop Application Fix
Look for your Outlook desktop shortcut or icon on the dashboard.
Right click
on this and select
Properties
Once this opens we want to navigate to the
Shortcut
tab and click
Advanced
A new popup will appear and we want to ensure the
Run as administrator box is selected.
Re-open Outlook and you should receive a user access control prompt. Click
Yes
and you should now be able to access the desktop Outlook app.
