Updating your PC
Updating your PC
Overview
Windows updates can sometimes contain critical operational updates to ensure your device is functioning properly as well protect your device.
Instructions
Navigate to
Settings
by right clicking on your Windows Icon and select
Settings
From here we want to now select
Windows Update
Click
Check for updates.
This will take some time to search, download and install any updates that are pending.
You may be prompted to restart your PC once the updates have finished installing. If this is the case please allow for
all
updates to finish installing before rebooting.
We can also check for any driver/firmware updates that relate specifically to our hardware such as touchpad's, sound and wifi cards, etc. To do this we want to select
Advanced Options
while in the Windows Update menu.
From here we want to choose
Optional updates
Check off any of these updates that is pending download. Once all are selected you can click
Download & install
As you can see I have one update that was able to download and install without needing to restart, but the Dell firmware (Very important) requires a reboot. There is no other updates downloading so I can go ahead with the reboot.
